We would like to share the following updates with the community: 

• Alhamdullilah, we have completed the requirements of the Hillsborough Township related to temporary occupancy certificate and on track to receive permanent occupancy certificate. 
• Alhamdullilah, with your support and donations we have received $30,000 in donations in response to our email sent on 11th October 2020, Jazak Allah Khairan to everyone.
• Following the opening of the Masjid in Hillsborough in September for daily salah, our target was $170,000 to pay-off the contractors’ debt and our new target is $140,000. Please donate generously and be part of this sadaqa-e-jariya.  

In addition, we need funds to cover Masjid’s ongoing operational costs, please come forward to donate generously and tell your family and friends to donate for this noble cause.  You can share the Donation Page on your social media sites. Please make Dua for successful collection of required funds. May Allah (SWT) help and accept all our efforts in establishing the Masjid.

Alhamdulillah, our MCSC Hillsborough Masjid is now open for daily prayers, below is our financial update and an appeal for donations.
 
The construction and renovation work at the Masjid is completed, Alhamdullilah with the help of Allah (SWT) and your donations till date we have paid an amount of $550,000 since the beginning of the project in 2017.  This amount was paid to various contractors on completion of various required work items as per Township requirements.
 
We now have an outstanding payment to contractors for the work that was completed in September 2020 and based on this completion and Township inspections a temporary certificate of occupancy was granted following this we were able to open the Masjid.  The amount outstanding/due to the contractors is $270,000, we presently have $100,000 in funds/pledges available and are actively seeking donations and pledges from the community to cover the balance amount of $170,000.  In addition, we need funds to cover Masjid’s ongoing operational costs, please come forward to donate generously and tell your family and friends to donate for this noble cause.  You can share the Donation Page on your social media sites. Alhamdullilah we updated the Masjid with the audio system that helps the Imam leading the Salah and having the audio for the Sisters area when they join for Salah.

In this blog, there are quite a few important updates....

Alhamdullilah, MCSC received Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) from the Hillsborough Township for the new Masjid building at 26 New Amwell Road. 

As many of you are aware, we started this journey on the New Amwell Road property in 2016 and after 4+ years of hard work we reached this important milestone of establishing and opening the first Masjid in Somerset County.  As an organization, it took us about 28 years to locate, build and open the doors to our own place of worship, our own community center.

First and foremost, we would like to express our humble, heart-felt deep gratitude and thanks to Allah SWT for helping us achieve this goal. We are thankful for the efforts right from the humble beginning of MCSC in 1992 including all the past, present Board Members and numerous volunteers who contributed their time, donations and efforts in this endeavor. May Allah SWT accept all their efforts and make this deed as hasanat on the Day of Judgement, help and guide us all to make/use of this Masjid and community center for future generations to strive in becoming good Muslims to serve the humanity.

In the last few weeks, a number of items were completed including the Qibla facing Mehrab tile work in the Prayer Hall. Below are few pictures.

Daily prayers have started at the MCSC Masjid in Hillsborough, please check the prayer timings/schedule on the Home. All the congregants will be required to follow COVID-19 Guidelines, these are available online for your review. We have prepared the prayer hall to follow the social distancing guidelines during the prayer services.

The Masjid carpet was installed in the main prayer hall.

Our building, electric, plumbing, fire sprinkler system and fire alarm contractors passed all the final inspections successfully. Now we are working closely with the Hillsborough Township to complete the requirements for Occupancy Certificate, stay tuned.    

We needed to give a good pressure wash to the Masjid Building as we had lot of dirt, mold on siding, etc. that came with years of neglected maintenance of the buildings.  Here are few pictures from the pressure washing activity on a hot summer day in July. 

Due to incelment weather, the fence on the Masjid property line got damaged by heavy gusts of wind on August 5th. 

​MCSC had to call for a tree clearing service and get a portion of the fence repaired/replaced. Here are few pictures.

Starting July 31st MCSC started regular Jumua'h/Friday prayers at Temple Beth El, subject to COVID related safety guidelines. You can view the guidelines and register to attend the prayer service by clicking here.  

Below are few pictures of the Hall setup for the Jumua'h Service. 

We have been making progress in completing the fire sprinkler work, this involved few components that included a 4" water line running from the street to the building, hotbox, interior installation of fire sprinkler system and an fire alarm system. This job required coordination between multiple contractors, NJ American Water and Hillsborough Township. 

The progress of work was impacted during the months of March/April/May/June due to Covid-19. 

Lastly, the New Amwell Road was resurfaced after multiple road cuttings for water and gas pipelines that are feeding into the property. 

Alhamdullilah, towards the end of June we are closer to the finish line of completing all the components required to have a fully functional fire sprinkler system. Here are some pictures for you all to see. 

This month the interior work progressed ... completed major items of the interior building such as sheet rock, coloring, door installation, electric fixture installation, bathroom tiling, fixture fitting, flooring in the rooms, hallway and recreation areas, wall tiling in the prayer hall, etc.  Lot of work got completed this month Alhamdullilah.
